First high-level visit from Syria to Egypt in 14 years

 

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad made the first official visit at ministerial level to Egypt since 2009.

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad arrived in Egypt as part of an official visit. Minister Mikdad met with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, views were exchanged on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and on regional and global developments.

On the other hand, the first official Visit at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from Egypt to Damascus since 2011, when the civil war started in Syria , was made on February 27. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry visited Syria, which was affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, and was received by his Syrian counterpart Mikdad and Syrian President Bashar Assad.
