A first in U.S. history! The former US President became the first president to be prosecuted for Trump, what more is known about him?

Former US President Donald Trump will become the first former US President in US history to appear before a judge on charges against him. The indictment prepared against Trump is being kept secret, so the specific charge or charges have not been made public. The Washington Post has compiled what is known so far about the charging decision and the next steps in the criminal trial

Former US president Donald Trump is due to appear in court over a $130k 'hush pay' payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels. The grand jury decided to investigate the accusations against Trump and therefore file a lawsuit. Trump thus became the first former president in US history to have a criminal case opened against him.

WHAT IS THE CASE ABOUT?

The indictment against Trump is believed to involve a payoff made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election to keep quiet about that she had a sexual relationship with Trump years earlier. Daniels had argued that she signed a deal for 130 thousand dollars in 2016, but it was invalidated by Trump. Trump has denied Daniels' allegations.

WILL HE BE PUBLICLY ARRESTED?

Trump said on his social media account on March 18 that he would be arrested, but that this would not happen if he surrendered voluntarily.

A spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office said Trump had contacted his lawyer to coordinate his surrender. Tuesday April 4, a person close to the matter, who spoke to the Washington Post on condition of anonymity, said that Trump is expected to appear before the judge at 14:15 on Tuesday.
